Your choice is what matters to us between balayage and foil highlights. The ready staff at Fabio-Scalia SoHo and Brooklyn Heights Salons attentively listen during your consultation. They determine the look that you want to achieve so that it can be executed with beauty and precision.
It is so important to come in for a color consultation with a professional colorist prior to any color service. The colorist is present to guide you and explain the best route for you to take.

Foil Highlights by JC

Foil Highlights

You might be looking for a high lift, high contrast appearance. Foil highlights tend to be more symmetrical which allows for more balanced proportions, as compared to balayage which is more free-flowing. Considering these differences, foil highlights might be just what you’ve been passionate about.
Multiple colors can be applied during the process, so the placement of foil highlights has to be accurate. Enormous skill and attention to detail is required to ensure exactness.
Much depends on the color of your hair and what color effects you are trying to achieve. For example, if your hair is very dark and you want to go blonde, then foil highlights would be the way to go. JC Canto in our SoHo Salon specializes in blonde highlights achieved with foils.

Balayage by Lucio

Balayage

Balayage is hand painting of the hair, with a sweeping motion, so it is of a softer transition and there is no clean line of demarcation in the hair as compared to foil highlights. It’s one steady flow of color throughout. All you have to do is choose the color that best appeals to you! (This is all established during the consultation.)
According to Lucio Galiano in our Brooklyn location, “balayage is more of a sun-kissed look.” It’s natural, colorful, bright, attention-grabbing and lasts for several weeks! It’s easy to imagine the reflections of your hair as you stroll the beach or through the park. Maintenance is minimal, requiring fewer touch ups than foil highlights.
Whatever your choice between balayage and foils, the highly qualified professionals at either of our two locations look forward to extending you the pleasure of a satisfying hair experience.
